THE GUN ROOM

One of the highlights of The Gun Room is its collection of handmade long rifles dating back to the late 18th and 19th centuries. A famous piece on display is the percussion rifle crafted by J.J. Henry and Sons, who accompanied Benedict Arnold to Quebec in 1775 and later produced muskets for the U.S. Army. Each rifle is labeled with a unique number, and brochures with a and a brief history and description can be found in the restaurant.

The entrance and nearby areas of The Gun Room are adorned with nautical objects such as boat telegraphs, steering arms, steamboat instruments, bells, compasses, and bell pulls.

The Rufus Putnam Dining Room opened to the public on January 31, 1931, with free admission offered to all living descendants of Rufus Putnam (one of Marietta’s founding Fathers). Later on August 17, 1946, it was renamed as The Gun Room, becoming a popular dining destination for families and friends in the Marietta community.

Currently, The Gun Room serves breakfast exclusively, except for special occasions and events. For the latest news about The Gun Room, check out our Experiences Page
